The subject of education still excites their ambition, and it is to be hoped that some action will be taken on my former suggestion, otherwise it will be impossible to sustain a school this summer. The school that has been in operation during the winter closed on the 8th of this month. I was present during the examination of the pupils and was agreeably surprised to see how they advanced in their studies during the last six months, at commencement of that period they did not know their letters, are now reading in the second reader, writing, spelling, adding and subtracting with a surprising degree of aptness and was sufficient evidence of the fact, that the colored people are susceptable of education.

In the evening an exhibition was given by them which was highly creditable to both Teacher & pupil.
