The approach of the hot weather and the necessity of the children working on the crops has reduced the number of scholars. A school has been organized midway between Navasota & Millican, opening with some 35 scholars. The freedmen are entirely unable to pay teachers and buy Books. efforts are being made to complete the school house at [[strikethrough]] Brazos [[/strikethrough]] Bryan.
