The feeling upon the subject of education is not good but they (the whites) find they cannot prevent it any other way than by occasionally burning a Freedmans School House as was the case a few days since. The freedpeople are building school houses in many neighborhoods in my Sub Dist. and are anxious to educate their children. They are not able to procure teachers - They may be assisted by having teachers sent them.
