Lieut. Chas. A. Vernon
A.A.A.G.

The minds of the freedpeople have been rather dormant on the subject of education, but by constant persuasion on my part I have got them in the notion of saving their little earnings for the purpose of educating their children, if the cotton worm does not infest the crop this year The Sub Asst Comms. do their duty & sees that the freedpeople get their just rights they will be able to send their children to school next year.
