Office S.A.C. B.R. &c Cotton Gin. Aug. 31. 1868. Lt. Chas. A. Vernou. A.A.A.G. The whites are desirous to see the f.m. educated and are assisting them in the erection of School house. I have one School house in this Co on a plantation but cannot obtain the service of a teacher, and there [[three?]] more houses will soon be completed in Freestone Co. I don't know how they would be best assisted unless to provide teachers, this they want and are perfectly willing to pay a reasonable salary to a competent teacher. Very Resp &c (Signed) David S. Beath S.A.C.
