Office S.A.C. B R &c
Brenham. Sept. 30. 1868

Lt. Chas. A. Vernou,
A.A.A.G.

The freedpeople are anxious to secure an education and the whites are becoming convinced that the f.m. would become better labourers and better citizens if educated,

The freedpeople have no means to pay tuition and much assistance could be given by paying at least part of the salary of Teachers. Many of the freedpeople can pay no tuition at present, after the cops are gathered they may do better.
