Office S.a.C. B.R &c
Palestine, Sept 30. 1868

Lt. Chas. A. Vernou
A.A.A.G.

The whites are opposed to educating the f.m. and discourage it all they can. The freedpeople are doing all they can considering their condition, shortness of crops last year renders them powerless: They want a teacher at Palestine very badly and the Bureau would render material assistance by sending a good teacher to that place.
