La Grange July 8th 1868.

Sir.  We the undersigned Trustees of the School in La Grange: have Trouble which we apply to you to settle. Mrs Westerfield having been our Teacher the people was not satisfied and applied to us for another. We then went to Columbus and Mr Stevenson recommended: Mr Gooden and we then imployed him to take charge of the School and have Miss W-. to remain as an assistant Teacher in said School. To this [[strikethrough]] W [[/strikethrough]] Miss W-. being governed by Fred Sutton: rented another house and opened School. we then put Mr Gooden in charge of the School house: he taught Monday and Tuesday last: and on Wednesday Miss W. marched her Scholars back and claimed the house. Mr Gooden dismised his Scholars left the house and said he would wait orders from you governing the matter. We are not satisfied with Miss W.- and will not patronize her: and this is the voice of the majority of the Citizens.
