Columbus Sept 28/68

Revd Jos Welch
Superintendent of Schools

D Friend:

Your letter of 25th at hand. I am truly glad you have sent a male teacher as assistant - Mr. Hanna has not gotten over his spree fully yet. His school was down last Friday in the the plea of sickness. I fear it was something else. He was not out yesterday & I ran the Sunday school. I believe I can do better than he in some respects. I should hate to part with Hanna, in spite of his fault I think he will get straight & do better. Do not indicate that you know anythign about the matter. If it becomes necessary I will ask his removal. He is more competent & more of a gentleman, than any teacher I have, & I would hate to part with him.
