Friend Bartholomew:

"Alas poor Yurick!" or the Bureau it is all the same. Well I am not very sorry though for certain reasons. I would not have objected to having $150- per mo - for five or six more times. Will you do me the favor to ask the new D.O. to send my pay - & actual expenses coming here - & going up Country . I wish if possible to go at the end of the month if I am going & cannot git away very well without. I will get in all returns & vouchers. Have sent Miss Davlins to Dallas with directions to sign & forward - also rent of house for N. Scott. My impression is she has not gone in the house, so there will be none. The mails are so irregular that it will not do to depend upon vouchers going to Dallas & returning here
