We believe that this division has been created by a gentleman & lady, she who is now teaching for us, & her brother in law who wishes the division so that he can take charge of one of the schools. Now we write to you to say that in our poverty we are [[strikethrough]] [[?]] [[/strikethrough]] unable to build two school houses, & if the government will assist (& we require assistance) that our agt shall look into the merits of the case & grant the assistance so as to suit the great majority of the coloured population. We & those we represent are trying to act up to the instructions of the agent, & we are opposed to dividing the school interest to oblige Mr McKnight who is trying to have the school divided.
