Dallas April 26/69

Capt. Stevenson I have been requested by several to write to you concerning the lot you spoke of getting when you was here. A great many think the lot you spoke of getting too far from Town it being over a mile and among such a rough set that it will be liable to be burnt down at any time or shot into. There is another lot in nere town that can be bought very cheap it has a fine spring well and is in my judgement a much more suitable place for a school the lot I speak of is not as far from town as my present school house is although it is a very retired place. The freedmen think that with the assistance they are likely to get they will have a house in mownth. They want to know if you have any objection to them getting the lot nearer town I have some fears about going to the house you contracted for when you was here it being so far off and goodeal of passing by it. let us hear from you soon as we wish to know what you think would be the best for them to do as they will abide by your decision

Very respectfully
Charlie Jaslin
