Marshall March 8th, 1869

Mr. Stevenson

I have received the forms from Jefferson. There is another school in this place & the rent of the house is paid by the Bureau. I am poor and make my living by teaching. I am willing to do what is right but I cannot afford to buy envelopes and stamps and send reports unless you will pay my rent and put my school on a footing with the other school. I would be glad to teach an Independent School but will wait and do as you direct in the matter.

Very Respectfully
Caroline Poe
