Brenham Texas. Octo 30th 1869 Rev. Joseph Welch Supt of Schools Hd Quarters Austin Texas Sir Application has been made to me Rev. B. O. Watrons to report to you the following statement of facts. Mr. Schoby late Teacher of Freedman School at this place holds in his possession Two Checks for $20 each being for rent of the Methodist Church. (Colo) as a School. House. You may recollect that while I acted as Sub Asst Comss B.R.F. & A.L. I was authorised to rent this Church for that purpose and to refresh your memory I herewith enclose to you your leters of Dec 7. 1868 on that subject. Mr Watrons informs me that a proposition was made to him to permit this rent to be appropriated for the benefit of the Teacher of the School and that he said the proposition before the Trustees of the Church and they rejected the same as much damage was done to the building by the children.
