Calvert, Texas
May 14, 1870

L.W. Stevenson
Supt. Education &c.

Dear Sir:
Your favor of the 9th inst. was received to-day. I sent General Howard the deed as per your instructions:

The school business in Calvert would succeed very well were it not for a a strong Rebel feeling against it:

The rebel feeling is so strong here that loyal people have to depend on themselves as far as protection may go.

Military officers are inclined to assist them.

Yours Respectfuly
M Wilson
