My dear Trevor:

Thanks for your letter but have been unable to answer owing to our opening show, which is going very well and I am sure you would be pleased with it. I am now quite convinced that I cannot do anything with the large Benjamin West with our Art Institute. So Iam [[I am]] sending the photograph of it to my friends at the Minneapolis Museum of Art, and will advise you as soon as I hear from them.

The Vestier is reserved by one of my very important clients and I should have a decision next week as they, very generously, loaned it for our show; but wish to have it hung in their home again before the final word. Can you give me any interesting record of this picture, or what collection it has been in? All this information does help.

I expect to be in New York the early part of next month and will look forward to seeing you then.

With kind greetings to you all,

Yours sincerely,
Chester H Johnson

P.S.
Did you fetch over any lovely English portraits if so, could I have photos sent, to show a client?
J
