Chester H. Johnson, Esq.,
410 South Michigan Ave.,
Chicago, Ill.

Dear Johnson,
Many thanks for your letter of the 21st inst., enclosing your check of $800. on account of the CHINNERYS which you sold and which will be acknowledged in due course by our office.

We were interested to hear that you have the VESTIER under reservation, but as I told you, if your client does not decide within a couple of weeks, we would very much like to have this picture returned to us because we also have someone quite interested in it.

We were also glad to hear that you are working on the Benjamin WEST, and we wish you every luck.

As regards English portraits of the size you mention, I am enclosing you a photograph of a very charming painting by HARLOW which is extremely nice in color, the dress being of a black relieved by a yellow scarf and a white headdress* This is about the only painting of that type that we have now free as we have recently sold several of our English portraits and another one which we have here is now under consideration.

Anyhow, when you come here, I would like to show you a very important full length Sir Joshua REYNOLDS which we recently acquired and which is recorded in every work on the Master.

I note that you intend coming to New York early in November, therefore, looking forward to the pleasure of seeing you again, and with my kindest regards to Quest and yourself in which Mr. Seligmann joins, believe me to be
Yours sincerely,
