The wax portrait of Washington was done from life about 1783 by Joseph Wright. From this portrait was made the plaster cats for the famous wax relief portrait by Patience Wright, mother of Joseph. The portrait is in its original frame, and the head and bust is slightly over 8 inches in height.

The French clock has been in the possession of the American Art Association ever since the institution of that organization in 1881. Like many of the famous pieces from time to time acquired by the Association either for Mr. Sutton's or Mr. Kirby's private office, or for private sale, it came from the Gallery Petit George through the personal purchase of M. Montaignac. Those who will remember Mr. Sutton's office in the old American Art Galleries, will remember this clock with its beautiful reclining bronze figure holding aloof a bunch of golden grapes, for it, with one or more of his famous Monets always adorned his office. Its size is 17 inches high and 18 inches long and is mounted on a red marble ornamented base 8 3/4 inches high by 19 1/4 inches long.

If you are or should become interested in any of these pieces and desire any further information as to price, terms or particulars or to arrange for a personal examination thereof, a line to me at my office, No. 36 East 57th Street, New York City, will be appreciated.

Faithfully yours,
Gustavus T. Kirby
