with at least succession duties- To be succint I decide lately to put a Guardi on sale at Sotheby in London.

We had originally bought it there in 64 or 65 for $75,000 U.S. $. It belonged to Lord Downing collection who got it from Conalghi. However it will be sold at Sotheby on June 30th 1971 and it is photographed & described in their catalogue of that day's sale on page 25. It is on a reserved price of £22,000. The art market being what it is, wish me luck. I confess it is the only thing we owned that I never really liked that is why I could bring myself to the decision of selling it.

I am sure you are presentely in Europe but somehow I had to tell you about it.... I have to tell someone! My best thought & regards to you and Mrs Seligmann.

Sincerely Jeanne Lynch-Staunton
