Dr. August L. Mayer,
Alte Pinakothek
Munich
Germany

My dear Dr. Mayer,-

Many thanks for your very kind letter.

The Goya picture just arrived in New York and we shall not fail to offer it to Dr. Barnes as you so kindly advise us; however this gentleman is in Europe for the present, and we will have to await his return. If Dr. Barnes is not interested, we will also offer it to the St. Louis and the Detroit Museums.

Business here does not seem to be very good. All the European dealers are here, and I believe that I will leave pretty soon to sail back to Europe, where I hope to be able to see you soon after my return.

With my best compliments of the season, and wishing you a happy New Year, pray believe me,

Yours very sincerely,
