Office Provost Marshal General, Dist. of East Texas.
Houston, Texas, February 9th, 1866.

E.M. Wheelock
Supt Schools &c

I telegraphed to you last spring after having a conversation with Mr Terry whom I met, with reference to Miss Byrne asking what should be done with her Mr. Terry says he will not be able to entertain a teacher at present as they have not yet built their school house but will have it in readiness in 6 weeks from date. I am desirous of leaving this a.m. & hope to hear from you by telegraph before I go Miss Byrne is now stopping at the "Old Capitol on expenses of $5.00 per day. I cannot rid myself of the thought that Mr Stuart has been to blame in keeping her although as it is it may be all right

Very Respectfully
GW Honey
Chaplain &c
