and heard, that this school should be placed in the charge of some good responsible white teacher.

There is no order kept in the school all is confusion no record and the teacher refuses to make use of any book or books, save the "old Webster Spelling book". or report to Mr. Stuart. This matter will have to be handled carefully as the Parson is inclined to make troubles in the house matter, refusing to allow it to be used by a white teacher. Still I believe that on my return to Galveston if you think proper to allow me to return to this place & spend a Sabbath with the Freedmen I can make that all right In the mean time Mr. Stuart says he will keep it as straight as possible

I leave tomorrow (Saturday) morning for Milican & return to this city on Monday
