Capt C.C. Morse
A. A. Genl.

Sir I have the honor to enclose the within list of subscribers of Freedmen and women to a school for the benefit of their children. I have not seen them all, but have no doubt that two good schools can be raised- As for a school building, I think the Court house the best adopted. It is used for meetings, etc. There are other buildings vacant which are available- I have no doubt but that boarding can be had without difficulty. Many of the men & women are desirous to go to night school. A compitent teacher can be had who is an enlisted man br'y Jesse Webb - Co "D" 37th Lees who has a "Surgs. Certifficate of disability" and performing no military duty- Can I make a detail of this man for the purpose- I Am Sir very respectfully-
