Office Sub-Assistant Commissioner, Bureau of R., F. & A. L., State of Texas Columbia, March 17th, 1866. E.M. Wheelock I have the honor to request you to issue a revocation of your authority given to one man Sheldon of this place to teach a school here for reasons I will explain more fully when I return to Gal. He has left this village & gone 2 miles west & opened a small school His every effort has been to prejudice the people here against him & us and I shall be obliged to remain here until Tuesday (20th) at which time I will return to Galveston The citizens are very anxious here to have a school & will (the whites) build a house immediately In the mean time they will furnish a room in which to teach Miss Clay will come here immediately Miss Austin is nicely settled at "Terrys" I shall also secure another location for a school Very Respectfully Geo W Honey
