E.M. Wheelock

Dear Sir
I have the honor to inform you that I have just arrived from Victoria via Columbus Mrs. Harris started her school on Thursday A.M. last. I left her comfortable & contented

The Freedmen of that place subscribe $600.00 toward Church & schoolhouse to be paid this autumn There might be schools started at Lavaca Gonzales and Halletsville providing some one would accompany the Teachers & do the work of starting Women cannot do it alone

Miss Byrne is unemployed & out of money while Stuart is in her debt $130.00 I wish Genl Gregory would authorize Capt Byron Porter to collect this & Miss Watsons

I understand he has started another school (& abandoned the former) on a private system I go to Chenango & Sandy Point on Monday and will return to Galveston on Saturday next

Respectfully
Geo. W. Honey

P.S. Miss Hartnett says she has not sold her books & cannot pay you the money
