contracts for the year and will not get their money untill the crop is gathered consequently I shall have to wait for mine. Some of it I never expect to get. My income never has been as much as sixty dollars a month as my attendance has always been very irregular. Twenty of my pupils asked my permission within the past month to leave school and go to cotton picking. I told them that I was perfectly willing they should do so knowing that the crop must be saved and that their parents will want the money they can earn. Supt also states that Lt. Goodman reported that I said I had nothing to do with the Bureau if he has done so it is not correct as he and I never had any conversation with regard to the Bureau except in a jesting manner. I have learned to defend myself since I came to this place without any assistance from the Supt. or any one else I am sorry that I am now compelled to do so with regard to him. He accuses me of insubordination and termagancy which he has no right to do. He has never asked me to report consequently I have never refused
