In obedience to your circular, dated May 15th, I state:-

In answer to paragraph 1st:- There are no private schools for freedmen in my district

In answer to paragraph 2nd:- I answer, fifty, located as follows:- Seguin, one; New Braunfels, one; San Marcus town, one; San Marcus river, two; the line of the Guadaloupe river, in Guadaloupe county, eight; the line of the Cibolo river, in Wilson and Guadaloupe counties, four; in Gonzales town, one; in the county of Gonzales, not less than fifteen.  There are no building obtainable within that limit.

On enquiring as to the probability of funding teachers I have been invariably referred to Boston. I could not promise six boarding places within all that scope of country for teachers of colored schools.  There are places at which board could be found for the number, but board cannot be
