R.F and of A.L.

Sir.
Mrs. Susie C. Harris the schoolteacher for colored children at this place has requested me to make application to the Christian Commission for Testaments, Hymn and Prayer books and tracts for the use of her Sunday School. She says that in a short time she will be able to buy a library, as she has funds to the amount of $8.00 already.
As I am not acquainted with the address of the Christian Commission, I thought it advisable to have the application made by you.
I am Sir

Your obedient Servant
