Dear Sir:
my object is starting a school on the plantation was in part, to demonstrate the capacity of the negro for mental improvement, with a view to the establishment of a permanent institution of learning in the state for Colored people. Having satisfied myself of this capacity to learn, - of the necessity of an institution, I have determined to make the trial, if I can get your approval and sufficient support to get it started.
It is my intention to give up my interest in the plantation in a few days when I will be ready to devote my time to what talent I possess to the advancement
