Report of the Sub Asst Com. Bureau of R.F. and A.L. at Victoria Texas, of the State of Schools for Refugees and Freedmen, in his district at the 31st day of July 1866.

The School in this town is improving very much. Mrs. Harris, the teacher has 75 Scholars who can nearly all read and write. But the town of Goliad, Laveua and Texana have no schools yet.

I have bought a lot which is paid for, and expect to raise money enough to commence building a church and Schoolhouse for freedmen. which I expect will be finished by the 1st of October.

The collored people in my district are all anxious to be educated and do all they can, to carry out the intentions of the Government.
