If I can possibly go down, I will on 20th if not, please reserve the Victoria Vacancy for me till 1st January.  After all, it might be best to commence school after the holidays. - and not till the freedmen are settled in their new homes. 
I feel that I could and would be of much service to the freedmen as well as to your department; having been with them all my life and having a perfect knowledge of their character and its peculiarities. 
Should you desire to do so, you can address me at Lynchburg, putting or sending your letter aboard on one of the Bay steamers, all of which touch at that point.
