I have the honor agreeable to instructions to submit the following Report of the colored school organized and taught by me in this place since the 25th of January 1866 Upon my arrival here I found a small number of boys & girls about twelve in all going to a school established under the auspices of Capt. Slone the Agt of the Bureau at this place & taught by two colored men who understood but little more than the Alphabet. After consulting with Capt. Slone I discharged the colored teachers - procured books and opened my school in the colored church with about twenty pupils I have since increased it to the number given in my report.

The colored Teachers whom I discharged have from time to time been advising some of the Freedmen to withdraw their children from me and send to them, they promising to start a school here. but since Chaplain Honeys visit here they have
