The subscriber respectfully suggests, that, Rule not be modified - In a school of colored children of all ages & sizes, proper discipline cannot be maintained without a judicious use of the rod.

The parents of two thirds of my scholars make it a special request on entering them at the school, that they shall be kept strictly on discipline, and some say, they will remove them if the whip is not used.

It would not be necessary after one or two examples made of the most refractory.
