REPORT TO SCHOOL
Brenham March 26/66
Lieut E.M. Wheelock

Dear Sir.
I enclose you the money due for Books in this report $26.30

Not manny of the coppy Books have come into requisition yet.

I may say to you the school is progressing rapidly. Of the whole number of pupils admited only 3 were Reading. 6 in words of one syllable, 83 in letters. And now I have but few who do not spell in 2 syllables, & pronounce well. I never allow the pupils to learn their letters, except the can recite Backward.

I do not know what to do, in respect of getting a school room, the miserable room I have is too small, & even this, I shall have to give up soon, as it is reported to have been sold.
