Mr. E. M. Wheelock
Supt. of Freedmens School
Sir. I was not aware of the fact until today 1st that I had to make a Monthly Report. as it would have come to hand without a notice to that effect.
In future I will be more punctual.
I received the Blanks & Envelopes from Capt Parker. being in his office on business he handed me the package addressed to Mr. Leonard. It should have been Reported.
I feel more than happy to report that the children are improving very fast. It being something new to them they have take quite a delight in Learning to read. I am sorry to report that parents very often detain them at Home for the slightest ailment.
The Night school was not well attended owing to the fact that the young Men & Women would sooner attend Balls & Parties than school. On the 2st I was compelled to close having only one young Man in attendance & he was on the point of removing from this place.
The two in the list on day school. left their parents removed from this place. W.R.
