Lagrange May 14th 1866 Mr Wheelock Sir A comparison between my present and last report will indicate a might falling off. This is due to the presence of Measles in the place in consequence of which some children have been kept back and some have been [[withdrawn?]] through sickness or fear The prejudice in this place against the School and the unutterable contempt in which the teacher of it is held exceeds all belief. I notice with regret a growing disposition to insult the teacher and to become abusive & violent This is evinced more in the night School where we are nightly beset by rowdies creating disturbances, and I much fear that gathering confidence by impunity they will soon proceed to open violence. My policy is to bear every thing short of personal violence Yours truly Saml Lea
