Mr Wheelock

Sir.

I have a great deal of difficulty in collecting my School. Bills. particularly those of the childrens it seems that Mr Jackson promised his Freedmen. that he would pay for all the day schoolers; failling to keep his promise if such he made, the parents hesitate on paying.

I have not received more than one fifth of the amount due. One reason is that Mr Jackson has had no money to give his workmen when here. he has been absent now several days. Am in hopes on his return that he will pay up satisfactorily

Respectfully Yours &c
