Dear Sir

I will not attempt to excuse my negligence in the matter of reporting I only say like the children I will try not to do so any more. 

I have had a good school here all summer I had an examination of my school on the 31st of July I will only say it was an entire success. I had taught six months I had 48 reading in the first Reader and 16 in the Second Reader. I had recitations from memory in prose and poetry, songs &c &c In Geography they went through the map of United States telling all the capitals and the water they were situated on, this they sing. In Arithmetic they went over the first four rules and the school repeated the Multiplication Table in concert. We had the room beautifully trimmed with evergreens and flags.

The Methodists here are trying to turn us out of the church and as the will appeal to the civil authorities I suppose neither the Bureau nor Military will have any power to interfere. What will we do in that case? Col. Pratt the new Agent here says he
