Millican Texas
Sept 1st 1866
To Mr. E W Wheelock.
Sir
I have nothing of importance to communicate- but in compliance with orders I write these few lines. Our school has not increased any since my last report. Capt. Sloan visited my school on the morning of the 17th and examined few of my classes. Our pupils are progressing as rapid as can be expected and I trust 'ere long we may have a larger school.

Our Sunday school attendants are also becoming neglectful because we have no Sunday school books. I gave $21.00 to Capt Sloan to forward to you

Very Respectfully,
Mary Smith
