wholly performed the bitterest possible persecution. That kind of persecution which is most difficult to bear and which tried mens souls. 
Those who subscribed in good faith but did not send were influenced by the opposition of the school which has been and still is in ceaseless opeation
I feel, amidst all these things, an approving consciousness of having stood to my post and discharged my duty, before Gods and Officers of the Government I most deeply regret the poverty that makes me so dependent on my wages for food and raiment for my wife & children I comes doubly hard under the operation of rules from officers to whom I looked for protection with my political creed and present occupation I could but naturally look to the Govt Officers as protectors
