Mr. Wheelock

I did not teach school for one week in this month. I was very sick, therefor it accounts for my teaching nineteen days only, I did not send the money I promised, as I had some trouble in collecting my fees, but; I shall certainly bring or send it by the 8th of October as I intend taking a trip to Galveston. If I dont go I will send it, as you said to Capt Porter & he can forward it to you. I am truly sorry to have disappointed you, but; it was not in my power to do so.

Chaplain Honey told me when I bought the box of things. I need only pay for what I sold, I will tell you what I have, (and are perfectly useless) left, three dozen pen holders, two dozen Copy books, & [[strikethrough]] three [[/strikethrough]] two dozen bottles of ink. Please let me know what I shall do with them, so that I may send to you. Nothing more of importance

J A Byrne

PS I received the Record & blanks.
