on Education of Freedmen and Refugees in Sub-District, State of Texas, in charge of 12th Sub Dis. Fort Bend for the Month of February 1868, [in accordance with order contained in Circular No. 5, Bureau R., F., & A.L.] 

1. Name of your Sub-District? Fort Bend Co. 12th Sub District

2. Whole number of Refugee or Freedmen's Schools in the District? 2 Day? 2 Night? 0 Sabbath? 1

3. Location of Schools? one in Richmond. One  four miles from Richmond 

4. Whole number of Teachers? 2 White? 2 Colored? 0

5. Names and post-office address of Day-School Teachers? Geo C. Booth. and - Clarks
Richmond Texas. 

6. Whole number of School-houses for Freedmen in your District? 2 Their condition, capacity, value, and by whom owned? Condition poor, Capacity small, Value uncertain, almost nil. One owned by Church Trustees and one by James Williamson (Col?)

7. Number of your visits to Schools? 2 Day? 2 Night? 0 Sabbath?  0

8. Number of educational meetings held by you during the month?  0  Where? --- Cannot establish any 

9. Number and names of places, now destitute, in which Day-Schools might be organized? Four. Pittsville. Jones's plantation Walker Station and Frost Chapel 

10. Number of pupils (estimated) who would attend such Schools?  Pittsville, from 50 to 60. Jones's plantation from 30 to 40. Walker Station from 40 to 50. Frost Chapel 35 to 45

11. Amount which would probably be raised by the Freedmen, for school purposes, in each destitute neighborhood? none.

12. What efforts are you making to secure the support of schools by pupils, parents, boards of education, or the State government?
I have endeavored by speeches for the last two years. - I have not had Boards of Education not being able to establish the same, - I have represented that the portion of Taxes collected from Freedmen in this county and in placed in school Freed be devoted to Educating Freedmen

13. Whole number of additional School-houses, for Freedmen, now wanted in your Sub-District? Four

14. Could you organize your Sub-District into School Districts, each with a School Committee pledged to carry on schools therein? No

15. To what extent would help from without be needed in such cases? Entirely

16. What is the public sentiment as to the education of the Freedmen and Poor Whites? Freedmen, good - Poor whites, unknown

17. Are Night-Schools for Adults needed in your District? Yes In what way could they be carried on? There is to be established one in Richmond, owing to the dilapidated condition of the Building all previous attempts at its establishment have failed.

18. What more can this Bureau do for educating the children of Refugees (or Poor Whites)? Establish the four schools, enumerated, the want of School Houses and residences for Teachers is at present the great obstacle

19. How long will Northern charitable aid be needed for Freedmen and Refugee Schools of your District? Until the Freedpeople, now in poverty, are in a condition to support Teachers
