on Education of Freedmen and Refugees in 
Sub-District, State of Texas in charge of F. P. Wood for the Month of December 1868, [in accordance with order contained in Circular No. 5, Bureau of Refugees, Freedmen and Abandoned Lands.]

6. Whole number of School-houses for Freedmen in your District? 2 Their condition, capacity, value and by whom owned? Fair Condition - Rented. one from B O Watsons, one from Chs Charles

8. Number of educational meetings held by you during the month? 0 Where? 0

9. Number and names of places, now destitute, in which Day-Schools might be organized? Hard to designate all destitute places. Schools may be organized over County

10. Number of pupils (estimated) who would attend such Schools? Probably 800 or 1000.

11. Amount which would probably be raised by the Freedmen, for school purposes, in each destitute neighborhood? Nothing scarcely c'd be raised on A/C of destitute condition of Freedpeople

12. What efforts are you making to secure the support of schools by pupils, parents, boards of education, or State government? Can do nothing at present

13. Whole number of additional School-Houses, for Freedmen, now wanted in your Sub-District. Many

14. Could you organize your Sub-District into School Districts, each with a School Committee pledged to carry on schools therein? Could in thickly settled neighborhoods

15. To what extent would help from without be needed in such cases? Almost entirely

16. What is the public sentiment as to the education of the Freedmen and poor Whites? Favorable. Great change in this respect

17. Are Night-Schools for Adults needed in your District? Yes  In what way could they be carried on? By Teachers of day schools & persons especially [[?]]

18. What more can this Bureau do for educating the children of Refugee (or Poor Whites)? By employing competent Teachers & assists

19. How long will northern charitable aid be needed for Freedmen and Refugee Schools of your District? Until reconstruction of State & school Tax levies
