Rev. Sir:

In harmony with Your Department of Education I take the liberty in saluting Your office with the undo peace.

I will suggest of an onward steady parade in my classes, males and females. The first and second classes are pulling off the knots of the Fundamental Divisions of Arithmetic. Can cite the parts of speech, give the degrees of the adjective, variations of the transitive verb, both regular and irregular. In addition, they observe of their remaining in the faith and keep climbing upwards until they untie the difficult knots, which surround the Asse's bridge in the third book of Euclits Elements. There are two young ladies at school from the County, who inform me of their desire to qualify themselves for teaching. I have not charged them any tuition up to date as they are boarding and have no parents. Parents, among many of them are rather behind in funds, so say they. I put them down for the same, as can do no better.

Bridge of Asses = Euclid ’s fifth proposition in the first book of his Elements may have been named the Bridge of Asses (Latin: Pons Asinorum) for medieval students who, clearly not destined to cross over into more abstract mathematics, had difficulty understanding the proof—or even the need for the proof.
