All the scholars I have are improving very rapidly I am happy to inform you. But there are not very many in attendance at present, on account of this being the "cotton picking season" they say they will all return to school after it is over.
I would like very much if I could get transportation to go to New Orleans and see my Father (who is very sick) while the school is so small that my sister could teach while I am absent.  I have been in Texas nearly two years teaching, and have not gone home during that time. I would not ask for transportation but there is so very little money collected in those schools, that it would be impossible for me to pay my fare home and back.
Please let me know whether I can get it or not,
