2. Remarks: The "freedmen" in general sustain the school and with that it may be kept up. But there are serious hindrances which will keep the school from growing much. I could very easily increase my school in numbers to 150 if I had the room. I am teaching in a small house which is crowded now to its fullest extent. You will see by this report that the scholars are not very far advanced in their studies. The two schools in the county are so far away that the people cannot send. I think that if the Bureau made an appropriation for a building that the people would buy the land.
