my School might be much larger if it were not for the private Schools. I know the Government is paying rent for the house and for this [[?]] the School Should be enlarged this I have tryied to do but in vain, never the less. most of the children in town are being taught, either public or private. We need a good Christian and well learned teacher. I would recommend J.O. Stevenson of Galveston to your consideration our School house is in fine order and Supplied with a nice and Sufficient number of Benches, by the government all is quiet here at present and our S. School is flourishing I am an assistant teacher. Mr S.H. Canfield is Superintendent.
