2. Remarks:  

The "Howard School" is in a state of good discipline, the pupils advancing, but entirely destitute of means and it is with the greatest difficulty that I can procure suitable school books. The school house is a miserable cabin devoid of any School conveniences excepting a few rough tables made by the freedmen for writing purposes.
