Sir
I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 24“ inst. and will give you the information called for in a few days. There are so many places where the fund could be well spent in assisting schools, that I have thought best to consult with one or two of the Teachers who are at a distance before making any recommended action as to what particular school to assist with the Fund you refer to,
Very Respectfully

In Lincoln Co, we have three schools for the Freedmen, two of which are sustained by the Friends, one by the Bureau at Howes District, Misses Fedender, Teacher P.O. at Lincolnton. this school has been aided to the extent of $8.000 per mo. And I trust will be by the Bureau. In Garten Co, there are two schools for the Freedmen, one at High Shoals, P.O. taught by the Messrs Wilkes, the other at Long Creek, taught by Mrs. Sophia Gromer P. Office at Dallas, this school received aid from the Bureau, fee letter from Mr. Fiske (L.B. Vol 5 p 75) dated July 18" 1868, and I trust will as long as it can be allowed. The Messrs Wilkes teach for the good it is doing & receive no aid, In Rutherford Co, there is no school for the
