MRS HOLMES 90

Mrs. Lucy Holmes received a number of her friends yesterday afternoon on her 90th birthday anniversary at her home, 290 Walnut street. The mail man made his contribution to her happiness as her left many messages of congratulations from friends. She also was remembered with gifts of plants, cut flowers, candy, fruits. Mrs. Blanche Barry, her faithful companion of years, received her guests, presented them to Mrs. Holmes and served tea and light refreshments. A birthday cake was cut.

Mrs. Holmes still enjoys good health for her years. She has the daily papers and keeps abreast with the fast moving events in the world.

Mrs. Holmes was born in Stoughton in what is known as the "Mary Baker Eddy" house on Central street, and was a favorite of that famous personage. She was the daughter of Alanson and Sally (Talbot) Wentworth. She was graduated from Stoughton High school in the class of 1867, with the late Dr. W. O. Faxon.

In her younger days she took work to do at home from the woolen mills and hat factories' and always was a useful citizen and a faithful helpmate to her husband, Arthur L. Holmes, now deceased. She has one daughter, Doris, wife of Dr. Sydney Blake, also a native of this town, now living in Washington, D. C., also a granddaughter of whom she is proud. Mrs. Holmes has one desire, that she might live to see the world at peace once more.
